From being a competitor and team captain in The National Cyber Defense Competition, to winning Hack-or-Halo at Shmoocon, and also running the Information Security Talent Search and designing the CTF for the Rochester Security Summit, I’ve gotten to see a lot of great competitors and different challenges.

This week I have began to design a brand new CTF/Security competition that could possibly be played online from remote locations and in person. This new CTF will include things like:

  • Social Engineering
  • Reverse Engineering
  • Malware analysis
  • System Security
  • Network Security
  • Cryptography
  • Intrusion Detection
  • Exploit writing

The idea behind this is to take the experiences I’ve had from various competition and turn them all into one big comprehensive security competition that touches a bit on every aspect of security.

Who knows, maybe this will span out and end up being a regular competition in the DC area.
